You have been vaping for a short time and you have bought your first electronic cigarette. You are probably wondering how to maintain it! Here is our guide that will teach you how to clean an electronic cigarette in a few very simple steps. Thanks to regular maintenance, you will extend the life of your vaping equipment while having flavours that are always at the top.

How to clean an electronic cigarette with a clearomiser?

An e-cig kit consisting of a box and a clearomizer is not cleaned in the same way as an electronic cigarette which is made of a single block, with a tank integrated into the battery as is the case for example of the famous Ego AIO Eleaf e-cigarette. To clean a two-part electronic cigarette, start by unscrewing the clearomizer from the battery, also called a box mod. Wipe a cloth soaked in alcohol to clean the box and take care to unclog the thread of the connection.

To clean your clearomiser, take it apart and wash each part (base, reservoir pyrex, drip tip, top cap, seals) with soapy water, rinse and then leave to dry. This will remove any e-liquid residue and prevent the taste of your old e-liquid from interfering with the new one. Attention! Never wash a resistor! The resistance of an e-cig cannot be washed, it must be changed when the e-liquid takes on an unpleasant taste.

How to clean a one-piece e-cigarette

If the battery of your cig is equipped with an integrated tank, you will not be able to clean the clearomiser with water. Use paper tissues lightly dampened with water to thoroughly clean the inside of the tank. For the drip tip, remove it if it is removable like on the Ego AIO Eleaf kit and wash it with soap and water.

Frequency of maintenance of an electronic cigarette

Like any good vaper, you like when your vaping sessions are tasty. If you do not regularly maintain your vaping equipment, your e-cig and in particular its atomizer will become clogged and the aromas may be distorted. Not to mention that hygiene level, it’s not terrible! Remember that the drip tip is the part of your e-cig kit that you put in your mouth. Cleaning the drip tip is mandatory every day to prevent bacteria from developing there!

The ideal is to clean your electronic cigarette at each change of resistance. This allows changing the flavour of e-liquid. Going from a menthol-flavoured vaping juice to a classic gourmet e-liquid requires a good deep cleaning to eliminate any residual aroma! Some e- liquids are messier than others, this is the case for all those with a high vegetable glycerin content (Full VG or High VG). If necessary, use baking soda, dishwashing liquid and vinegar to remove the greasy residue from this type of e-liquid with a high VG content.
