Do you know the story of the vaper who has a funny taste in his mouth, a taste so unpleasant that he can’t help but resent his electronic cigarette? Well, it’s not a funny story, but we’ll take the risk of telling it to you anyway. In the world of vaping, it is not uncommon to hear a vaper suddenly complain of having an unpleasant taste, or even, according to him, a burning taste. A burnt taste!?
When you have years of vaping experience behind you, it would almost be funny to hear a vaper cough and complain about having a weird taste in the mouth. But put yourself in his shoes: you too have certainly experienced this moment of loneliness when you would have liked someone to help you understand why. Why did your e-cigarette start producing such a weird taste that you didn’t want to vape for several days? However, this is nothing serious. And that never happens by chance.
- Improper power setting
When you start vaping, you immediately want to test your new electronic cigarette, and see its limits. Bad idea. If you are a beginner, refer to the user manual of your vape to adjust it to your level. You should also know that each resistor has a value in ohms and by deduction, there is a power limit not to be exceeded. Just because you have a box that can reach 200 watts doesn’t mean you have to use it at that power. In general, a power of about thirty watts is more than enough for a beginner vaper. No need to see the above at the beginning, it will come later.
As we explained to you in our article on e-liquid leaks, priming a resistor is an important step when using your electronic cigarette for the first time and then each time you change the resistor. Take a sheet of paper, light a lighter and everything ignites. Now take this same sheet of paper, dip it in water and then try to ignite it. The shortcut is simplistic but it is the idea of priming: moisten the cotton before using the electronic cigarette. Because it must be kept in mind that the resistance is a heating part. By not respecting this priming step, it is a safe bet that you will have an unpleasant taste in your mouth. |
- Change your resistors regularly
The more you use your electronic cigarette, the more the resistance gets dirty. This phenomenon is characterized by a deposit which generally forms at the base of the resistance. Results? Your electronic cigarette no longer reproduces the flavours you love to vape as well. If you notice a slight difference in taste, which becomes more pronounced as you vape, it’s time to change the coil. In general, the electronic cigarette resistance has a lifespan of about 15 to 25 fillings depending on the model. Changing an electronic cigarette coil is therefore an essential step for its proper functioning.
- A good PG/VG ratio
The percentage of Propylene Glycol and Vegetable Glycerin (PG/VG) is once again very important. As you know, Propylene Glycol has the effect of favouring the sensation of a hit in the throat while Vegetable Glycerin allows the production of vapour and its densification. The higher the proportion of Vegetable Glycerin, the more intense the vapour will be. But beware: not all electronic cigarette coils are suitable for e-liquids rich in Vegetable Glycerin. Depending on the opening and the capillarity of the cotton, an e-liquid containing a lot of VG (a fatty and viscous e-liquid) will have difficulty circulating in the cotton. And in this case, it’s a safe bet that you will have a bad taste in your mouth. Prefer e-liquids with a proportion of VG of around 50% or less.
You changed your resistance by being careful to start it well. You have set the power as indicated in the instructions for your electronic cigarette. You have an e-liquid with a PG/VG rate of 65/35. And despite all these precautions, your e-cigarette still produces a bad taste in your mouth?
What if in the end, your bad taste in your mouth was simply due to a bad choice of flavour? Discover our article on the taste of the vape and you will certainly find the rare pearl!
